The leaning happened due to the Pisa tower location when heavy layers of marble have been placed on the unstable soil which was a problem for many architects for more than eight hundred years.

Galileo dragged objects of varios weight to the top of the Leaning Tower and dropped them down.
Shortly after the experiments Galileo Galilei made a report, making a conclusion that objects of different weight fall with the same speed.
Cathedral of Pisa is a typical Roman church built in the XII - XIII centuries. Even with its decorated facade and the marble gallery, externally the Pisa Cathedral is not very impressive.
Inside the Cathedral consists of three chapels separated by granite columns.

Camposanto cemetery facade is laid with white marble decorated with blind arches. Inside the cemetery is a rectangular area with arches on one side, various tombs and frescos having a Gothic look.

There are not so many shops in Pisa. Most of the shops are concentrated on Corso Italia (more affordable Pisa shopping) and Borgo Stretto (elegant and expensive brands shopping) streets.
Pisa also has interesting antiques and art shops. Historic center opens up a daily Pisa market on Piazza delle Vettovaglie square selling souvenirs, various handcrafts, items made of clay, leather bags, belts, wallets and much more.

Pisa Italy airport Galileo Galilei is situated 2 km south from the city, and provides plenty of flights to Pisa from other Italian cities, from Europe and from all over the world. Flying to Pisa can be very inexpensive since there are varios low cost airlines operating in Galileo Galilei airport (like Ryanair, for instance).
Getting to Pisa airport is possible by train departing from the main Pisa train station. Trains to Pisa airport departure every 10 minutes and are very affordable (about 1 Euro).
Another way of getting from the airport to the center and vice versa is taking a taxi which is a bit more expensive than traveling by rail.

Getting from Pisa to Florence and from Florence to Pisa by train will take you about 1 hour and 15 minutes, and these trains departure many times a day. A train from Pisa will take you directly to the Santa Maria Novella train station in Florence (Firenze SMN) which is located next to the Florence SITA bus terminal, where it's possible to take a bus to the rest of Tuscany.

Train from Livorno to Pisa is going very frequently, costs only 2 Euro and has trip duration of only 15 minutes. You can take a bus to Pisa on Piazza Grande in Livorno.
