How to Roast Chestnuts in the Oven

Before you start with chestnut roasting in oven you should first make a cut through the brown chestnut shell - on a diameter, crosswise or just pinch the nuts with a knife in a few places.

Preparing chestnuts is very important to do when roasting chestnuts in the oven because otherwise chestnuts will burst and explode right in your oven.

The cut should be accurate, not very deep but quite long. If the cut is too short chestnuts can still explode when heated and mess your oven up.

Preheat the oven till 200 - 220 ºC. Place your chestnuts on a grill tray or just on a regular oven tray with a cut side up and bake till they're ready, normally about 20 minutes. After that you can either eat chestnuts just like that or add any ingredients you like and keep them in the oven for 5 minutes more.
